Product description:
Sofargen Gel is a waterbased medication for topical use containing Silver Sulfadiazine.
With its high water content (over 95%), this gel keeps the wound hydrated encouraging tissue repair and creates a barrier against external agents protecting the damaged skin thanks to the silver it contains.
It also facilitates debridement of necrotic lesions.
The presence of Silver Sulfadiazine, an organometallic compound obtained by a reaction between silver nitrate and sulfadiazine, prevents microbial contamination of the dressing and keeps the wound environment free from other
exogenous bacteria.
The special formulation of creates an environment that facilitates the natural healing process and provides an effective barrier to microbial penetration.
The product remains “in situ” and is unaffected by stretching of the wound edges.
It can easily be removed by cleaning the wound with saline solution.
Composition:
Purified Water, Glycerol, Carbopol 974P, Sodium Hydroxide, Micronized Silver Sulfadiazine.
Indications: Sofargen Gel is indicated for local treatment of skin injuries such as abrasions, scrapes, cuts, wounds, skin irritations and skin diseases in general.
It can be used as a moisturizer to keep the wound bed moist and prevent infection or as a cleanser to remove non-viable fragments and fibrin build-up.
Dose and directions for use:
After appropriately cleaning the wound, apply a uniform layer of 2 or 3mm thick of on the affected surfaces.
The can be applied either directly on the wound or spread on a sterile gauze and applied to the wound to obtain a moisturizing effect or on a polyurethane or semiocclusive dressing as a cleanser.
Sofargen Gel is also a good substitute for the most commonly used hydrogels.
The gel must be applied continuously without interruption once or twice a day as long as there is a possibility of infection and until complete healing, both in spontaneous and surgical
repairs. Thoroughly clean the wounds with saline solution or water before re-applying the product.
Precautions:
Patients with ascertained hypersensitivity to the components must not use Sofargen gel.
It is recommended not to use the product for more than 4 weeks.
Seek medical advice in case of incomplete healing or if undesirable symptoms arise.
In the event of accidental ingestion, seek medical advice.
Warnings:
The gel may tend to turn brown if left exposed to light because of the silver ion in its formulation.
Nonetheless, this phenomenon does not compromise its effectiveness and safety.
Do not apply the product together with liquid or solid disinfectants.
Close the tube after each application.
In pregnant women and early childhood, use the product only after seeking medical advice.
Sofargen gel is to be used to treat small wounds only.
The product is not for ophthalmic use.

Undesirable effects:
Temporary sensations of burning or irritation may occur, however without consequences, and rare local allergic reactions.
If you experience undesirable effects, consult a doctor or pharmacist.
Expiry date and storage:
Store at a temperature below 40°C. Do not use beyond the expiry date printed on the package.
This date refers to the product properly stored in an intact package.
