Alkaderma® is a skin conditioning ointment. Its active ingredients care, protect, have healing, regenerating and soothing properties.
It contains extract of the roots of the plant Alkanna tinctoria (L.) Tausch, Calendula officinalis (L.) extract, jojoba oil, vitamin E and Chios mastiha.

Alkanna tinctoria, a native plant of southern Europe, belongs to the family of Boraginaceae.
Alkanna tinctoria extract contains isoexenylonafthazarines (alkannin, shikonin and their esters).
Alkannin is a dye soluble in oils and alcohol that gives an intense red color. In medicine alkannin is used to treat traumatic lysis of skin continuity such as chronic ulcers of different etiology (venous stasis, pressure ulcers), burns, psoriasis and other skin wounds.
It is of interest that extracts of Alkanna tinctoria and other plants of Boraginaceae family have been used for centuries as folk remedies for a variety of disorders such as eczema, keratodermia, dermatophytosis, corns, callus, acne vulgaris, burns and even hemorrhoids.
It also has anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties.
Clear antimicrobial activity has been demonstrated against Staphylococcous aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis and Candida albicans.
Alkanna tinctoria owes its activity to the synergistic effect of alkannin, shikonin and their esters.
Calendula officinalis is a common flower in Europe belonging to the Asteraceae family.
It is applied to the skin to reduce pain and swelling (inflammation) and to treat poorly healing wounds and leg ulcers.
It has anti-inflammatory action and antimicrobial properties according to some studies.
It is an excellent healing with valuable therapeutic and cosmetic properties.
Its flowers contain essential oils, saponins, flavonoids, vitamin C, calcium, carotenes (precursors of vitamin A) and significant amounts of silicon.
The combination of silicon and protective mucus contained in Calendula officinalis makes it one of the most important herbs for the treatment of skin problems which are cured only when the body reconstructs new tissue.
It is beneficial for the wounds that heal slowly and for skin and venus ulcers.
Furthermore, pectins contained in the leaves make it a moisturizing agent.
Calendula officinalis is used for the treatment of wounds and skin irritations, burns and eczema.
It is ideal as first aid in minor burns.
Mastiha is the natural and rare tree resin of the pistacia lentiscus var Chia tree.
Scientific research has shown that this resin has anti-oxidant, anti-bacterial, and anti-inflammatory properties, contributing to wound healing and skin regeneration.
Jojoba oil is derived from the seeds of the jojoba plant (Simmondsia chinensis).
It contains myristic acid which has significant anti-inflammatory activity, vitamin E, vitamin B complex, proteins and minerals.
It also contains iodine, which may be where jojoba oil gets its ability to fight against bacterial and fungal infection of the skin.
Components of the plants Alkanna tinctoria and Calendula officinalis exhibit better reactivity when dissolved in a lipophilic base.
For this reason, the ointment contains also olive oil and beeswax.
Olive oil is rich in anti-oxidants, such as vitamin E and polyphenols, which protect the skin from premature aging, since they neutralize the damaging effects of free radicals.
Moreover, it contains several other active ingredients, such as high rates of vitamin K, sodium and potassium, which are beneficial for the skin.
Use
Alkaderma® ointment is used in the following cases:
♢ Provides relief and toning to

✓ chronic problems such as ulcers of various etiologies, pressure sores, hemorrhoids, diabetes wounds.
♢ Strengthens the affected areas and keeps the skin in good condition.
Instructions for use
Clean the area and dry thoroughly.
Place the ointment directly on the desired body area or on a sterile gauze and bandage.
The ointment should be used once a day.
When it concerns a burn, use Alkaderma® after the acute phase of burn (usually after 2 hours).
First aid for burns:
Pour lukewarm water (not cold) for 10-15 minutes and cover with sterile gauze.
Precautions
Use only as directed.
For external use only.
Avoid contact with eyes.
Keep at cool temperature with closed cap.
Keep the product away from children.
Caution!
Avoid contact with clothes-textiles, the ointment contains pigment.
Shelf Life
Alkaderma® ointment has a shelf life of 36 months.
Once opened, use the ointment within 12 months.
