The Science Behind the Product:
The density of the macular pigment is vital [1] to healthy vision [2-4]. However, the density of macular pigment naturally declines with age, [5] and some people lose the ability to synthesize meso-zeaxanthin from lutein over time. This is the reason why MacuGuard® Ocular Support formula has lutein, trans-zeaxanthin and meso-zeaxanthin, which are difficult to get from the diet alone. Furthermore, new evidence suggests that alpha-carotene helps support the macular pigment [6].
It was revealed that phospholipids found in MacuGuard Ocular® Support play a role in supporting lutein absorption [7-12] and in improving the circulation and accumulation of lutein within the retina as well [11,12].
Cyanidin-3-glucoside found in MacuGuard® Ocular Support formula stimulates the regeneration of rhodopsin, [13] a retinal compound which absorbs light.
