The formulation contains all three macular carotenoids, the three carotenoids form the macular pigment and are found at the back of the eye in the macula at the central part of the retina.
The macula is responsible for the clarity of central vision.
Of the three macular pigments lutein and zeaxanthin are present in some foodstuffs such as fruit and vegetables including spinach, corn, peppers and most leafy greens, whilst meso-zeaxanthin has been identified in specific tissues of marine organisms such as trout, salmon and shrimp.
Because meso-zeaxanthin is not frequently found in our normal diet in the event of a deficiency it may be advantageous to use supplementation.
